“And if I do judge, my judgment is true, because it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.

Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word,[fn] you really are my disciples.

“I know you are descendants of Abraham, but you are trying to kill me because my word has no place among you.

“Why don’t you understand what I say? Because you cannot listen to[fn] my word.

“Truly I tell you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.”

“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.”

“I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me,

“But you don’t believe because you are not of my sheep.[fn]

“If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant also will be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

“If you love me, you will keep[fn] my commands.

“The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me.

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.

“As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Remain in my love.

“I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.

“He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.

“Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine, and I am glorified in them.

“Now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy completed in them.

“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they will see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the world’s foundation.

“My kingdom is not of this world,” said Jesus. “If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would fight, so that I wouldn’t be handed over to the Jews. But as it is,[fn] my kingdom is not from here.”

But if by my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?
