“The one who loves a father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; the one who loves a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

“The one who welcomes you welcomes me, and the one who welcomes me welcomes him who sent me.

“And whoever welcomes[fn] one child like this in my name welcomes me.

Then Peter approached him and asked, “Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? As many as seven times? ”

Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a noble thing for me.

He told them, “Whoever welcomes[fn] this little child in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me welcomes him who sent me. For whoever is least among you ​— ​this one is great.”

“Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

“Every day while I was with you in the temple, you never laid a hand on me. But this is your hour ​— ​and the dominion of darkness.”

But turning to them, Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and your children.

“Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.”

“He must increase, but I must decrease.”

“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again.

Then they asked him, “Where is your Father? ”

“You know neither me nor my Father,” Jesus answered. “If you knew me, you would also know my Father.”

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and I am here. For I didn’t come on my own, but he sent me.

“We[fn] must do the works of him who sent me[fn] while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live.

“For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”

Jesus responded, “This voice came, not for me, but for you.

Jesus cried out, “The one who believes in me believes not in me, but in him who sent me.

“The one who rejects me and doesn’t receive my sayings has this as his judge:[fn] The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

“I’m not speaking about all of you; I know those I have chosen. But the Scripture must be fulfilled: The one who eats my bread[fn] has raised his heel against me.

“Truly I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me, and the one who receives me receives him who sent me.”

“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe[fn] in God; believe also in me.

Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time and you do not know me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

“Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.

“If the world hates you, understand that it hated me before it hated you.

“Remember the word I spoke to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

“The one who hates me also hates my Father.

“They will do these things because they haven’t known the Father or me.

“About sin, because they do not believe in me;

“He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.

“In that day you will not ask me anything. Truly I tell you, anything you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

“For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.[fn]

“Indeed, an hour is coming, and has come, when each of you will be scattered to his own home, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
