For the choir director. According to [fn]Jonath Elem Rehokim. A [fn]Mikhtam of David. [fn]When the Philistines seized him in Gath.

Be gracious to me, O God, for man has [fn]trampled upon me;

All day long, an attacker oppresses me.

My foes have [fn]trampled upon me all day long,

For many attack me proudly.

They [fn]attack, they lurk,

They watch my heels,

As they have hoped to take my [fn]life.

In anger, bring down the peoples, O God!

Are they not in Your book?

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 56:9 -

Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call;

This I know, [fn]that God is for me.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 56:10 -

In God, whose word I praise,

In Yahweh, whose word I praise,

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 56:11 -

In God I [fn]trust, I shall not be afraid.

What can man do to me?

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 56:12 -

Your vows are binding upon me, O God;

I will [fn]fulfill thank offerings to You.

Unchecked Copy BoxPsa 56:13 -

[fn]For You have delivered my soul from death,

Indeed my feet from stumbling,

So that I may walk before God

In the light of the [fn]living.
