Suddenly they shouted, “What do you have to do with us,[fn] Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time? ”
“The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at Jonah’s preaching; and look — something greater than Jonah is here.
“The queen of the south will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and look — something greater than Solomon is here.
Prompted by her mother, she answered, “Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”
“Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it’s good for us to be here. If you want, I will set up[fn] three shelters here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
Jesus replied, “You unbelieving and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.”
“So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes? ’ The man was speechless.
He replied to them, “Do you see all these things? Truly I tell you, not one stone will be left here on another that will not be thrown down.”
“If anyone tells you then, ‘See, here is the Messiah! ’ or, ‘Over here! ’ do not believe it.
He said to them, “I am deeply grieved[fn] to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me.”
“He is not here. For he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
“Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us? ” So they were offended by him.
His disciples answered him, “Where can anyone get enough bread here in this desolate place to feed these people? ”
Then he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God come in power.”
Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it’s good for us to be here. Let’s set up three shelters: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” —
“If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this? ’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here right away.’ ”
Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another — all will be thrown down.”
“Then if anyone tells you, ‘See, here is the Messiah! See, there! ’ do not believe it.
Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and he told his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”
He said to them, “I am deeply grieved[fn] to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake.”
“Don’t be alarmed,” he told them. “You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they put him.
Then he said to them, “No doubt you will quote this proverb[fn] to me: ‘Doctor, heal yourself. What we’ve heard that took place in Capernaum, do here in your hometown also.’ ”
Late in the day, the Twelve approached and said to him, “Send the crowd away, so that they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find food and lodging, because we are in a deserted place here.”
As the two men were departing from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it’s good for us to be here. Let’s set up three shelters: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” — not knowing what he was saying.

“ ‘Son,’[fn] Abraham said, ‘remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.
“They will say to you, ‘See there! ’ or ‘See here! ’ Don’t follow or run after them.
“But bring here these enemies of mine, who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter[fn] them in my presence.’ ”
But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee where he started even to here.”
“He is not here, but he has risen! Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee,
“There’s a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish — but what are they for so many? ”
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you get here? ”
Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.
As soon as Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and told him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died! ”
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Don’t be faithless, but believe.”
“And he has authority here from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
All who heard him were astounded and said, “Isn’t this the man in Jerusalem who was causing havoc for those who called on this name and came here for the purpose of taking them as prisoners to the chief priests? ”
