“Even if I have to die with you,” Peter told him, “I will never deny you,” and all the disciples said the same thing.
Then two criminals[fn] were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.
“how he entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest and ate the bread of the Presence — which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests — and also gave some to his companions? ”
Calling the crowd along with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host[fn] with the angel, praising God and saying:
Since they could not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on the stretcher through the roof tiles into the middle of the crowd before Jesus.
Jesus went with them, and when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, since I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.
Just as he neared the gate of the town, a dead man was being carried out. He was his mother’s only son, and she was a widow. A large crowd from the town was also with her.

Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them were telling the apostles these things.
“But we were hoping that he was the one who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it’s the third day since these things happened.
“Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they didn’t see him.”
But they urged him, “Stay with us, because it’s almost evening, and now the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
That very hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem. They found the Eleven and those with them gathered together,
He told them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you — that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
After Jesus had said these things, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley, where there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.
“I’m going fishing,” Simon Peter said to them.
“We’re coming with you,” they told him. They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
They all were continually united in prayer,[fn] along with the women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
“beginning from the baptism of John until the day he was taken up from us — from among these, it is necessary that one become a witness with us of his resurrection.”
Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them, “Fellow Jews and all you residents of Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and pay attention to my words.
So he jumped up and started to walk, and he entered the temple with them — walking, leaping, and praising God.
When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus.
And since they saw the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in opposition.
“For, in fact, in this city both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,
Then the high priest rose up. He and all who were with him, who belonged to the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.
Hearing this, they entered the temple at daybreak and began to teach.
When the high priest and those who were with him arrived, they convened the Sanhedrin — the full council of the Israelites — and sent orders to the jail to have them brought.
Then the commander went with the servants and brought them in without force, because they were afraid the people might stone them.
But Peter told him, “May your silver be destroyed with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
“How can I,” he said, “unless someone guides me? ” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
