and they were baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

“I baptize you with[fn] water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove[fn] his sandals. He himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup I drink or to be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with? ”

“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

When Jesus[fn] learned that the Pharisees had heard he was making and baptizing more disciples than John

So he departed again across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing earlier, and he remained there.

“for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit in a few days.”

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.

But when they believed Philip, as he proclaimed the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.
