“So then, all the Jews know my manner of life from my youth up, which from the beginning was spent among my own nation [the Jewish people], and in Jerusalem.
And you Philippians know that in the early days of preaching the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of [fn]giving and receiving except you alone;
Remind people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready and willing to do good,
And,
“[fn]YOU, LORD, LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH IN THE BEGINNING,
AND THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS;
Therefore let us get past the elementary stage in the teachings about the Christ, advancing on to maturity and perfection and spiritual completeness, [doing this] without laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
[I am writing about] what existed from the beginning, what [fn]we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life [the One who existed even before the beginning of the world, Christ]—
Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the message which you have heard [before from us].
