“Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?
Then he told them many things in parables, saying, “Consider the sower who went out to sow.
“When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the one sown along the path.
“And the one sown on rocky ground — this is one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy.
“Now the one sown among the thorns — this is one who hears the word, but the worries of this age and the deceitfulness[fn] of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
“But the one sown on the good ground — this is one who hears and understands the word, who does produce fruit and yields: some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times what was sown.”
He presented another parable to them: “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.
“But while people were sleeping, his enemy came, sowed weeds among the wheat, and left.
“The landowner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Master, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from? ’
He presented another parable to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field.
“and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
“The man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a harsh man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.
“His master replied to him, ‘You evil, lazy servant! If you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered,
“Some are like the word sown on the path. When they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word sown in them.[fn]
“And others are like seed sown on rocky ground. When they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy.
“And those like seed sown on good ground hear the word, welcome it, and produce fruit thirty, sixty, and a hundred times what was sown.”
“It’s like a mustard seed that, when sown upon the soil, is the smallest of all the seeds on the ground.
“And when sown, it comes up and grows taller than all the garden plants, and produces large branches, so that the birds of the sky can nest in its shade.”
“A sower went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some seed fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the sky devoured it.
“Consider the ravens: They don’t sow or reap; they don’t have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than the birds?
“because I was afraid of you since you’re a harsh man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’
“He told him, ‘I will condemn you by what you have said, you evil servant! If you knew I was a harsh man, collecting what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow,
“The reaper is already receiving pay and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the sower and reaper can rejoice together.
If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it too much if we reap material benefits from you?
And as for what you sow — you are not sowing the body that will be, but only a seed, perhaps of wheat or another grain.
So it is with the resurrection of the dead: Sown in corruption, raised in incorruption;
sown a natural body, raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
The point is this:[fn] The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.
Now the one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will also provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
