Page 1 / 2 (Mat 1:18–Luk 8:19)
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been [fn]betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by [the power of] the Holy Spirit.
Now when they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod intends to search for the Child in order to destroy Him.”
So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt.
“[fn]He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
While He was still talking to the crowds, it happened that His mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to Him.
Then [Salome] the [fn]mother of Zebedee’s children [James and John] came up to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down [in respect], asked a favor of Him.
Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called for Him.
