Jacob went on his way, and God’s angels met him.

When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua approached him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies? ”

However, Jonathan had not heard his father make the troops swear the oath. He reached out with the end of the staff he was carrying and dipped it into the honeycomb. When he ate the honey,[fn] he had renewed energy.[fn]

Then you will delight in the Almighty

and lift up your face to God.

Look at the heavens and see;

gaze at the clouds high above you.

They will wander through the land, dejected and hungry. When they are famished, they will become enraged, and, looking upward, will curse their king and their God.

Look up and see!

Who created these?

He brings out the stars by number;

he calls all of them by name.

Because of his great power and strength,

not one of them is missing.

“Listen, you deaf!

Look, you blind, so that you may see.

The LORD said to me, “Son of man, look toward the north.” I looked to the north, and there was this offensive statue north of the Altar Gate, at the entrance.

Even the wild animals cry out to[fn] you,

for the river beds are dried up,

and fire has consumed
