Look! Your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin can see that I’m[fn] the one speaking to you.
Now his eyesight was poor because of old age; he could hardly[fn] see. Joseph brought them to him, and he kissed and embraced them.
The LORD said to him, “Who placed a mouth on humans? Who makes a person mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
“You must not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and corrupts the words[fn] of the righteous.

Keep listening, but do not understand;
keep looking, but do not perceive.
They will look toward the earth and see only distress, darkness, and the gloom of affliction, and they will be driven into thick darkness.
Therefore I am[fn] filled with anguish.
Pain grips me, like the pain of a woman in labor.
I am too perplexed to hear,
too dismayed to see.
On that day the deaf will hear
the words of a document,
and out of a deep darkness
the eyes of the blind will see.
