War against Jerusalem

(2Ki 16:5; 2Ch 28:5–15 )
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:1 - It happened in the days of Achaz the son of Yotam, the son of `Uzziyah, king of Yehudah, that Retzin the king of Aram, and Pekach the son of Remalyahu, king of Yisra'el, went up to Yerushalayim to war against it, but could not prevail against it.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:2 - It was told the house of David, saying, "Aram is allied with Efrayim." His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:3 - Then the LORD said to Yesha`yahu, "Go forth now to meet Achaz, you, and She'ar-Yashuv your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller's field;
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:4 - and say to him, 'Take heed, and be quiet; don't be afraid, neither let your heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Retzin and Aram, and of the son of Remalyahu.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:5 - Because Aram, Efrayim, and the son of Remalyahu, have purposed evil against you, saying,
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:6 - "Let us go up against Yehudah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tav'el;"
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:7 - thus says the Lord GOD, "It shall not stand, neither shall it happen."
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:8 - For the head of Aram is Dammesek, and the head of Dammesek is Retzin; and within sixty-five years shall Efrayim be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people:
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:9 - and the head of Efrayim is Shomron, and the head of Shomron is Remalyahu's son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.'"

The Child Immanuel

Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:10 - The LORD spoke again to Achaz, saying,
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:11 - Ask a sign of the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:12 - But Achaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:13 - He said, "Listen now, house of David: Is it a small thing for you to weary men, that you will weary my God also?
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:14 - Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: behold, an almah shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanu'el.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:15 - Butter and honey shall he eat, when he knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:16 - For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.

Trials to Come for Judah

Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:17 - The LORD will bring on you, and on your people, and on your father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Efrayim departed from Yehudah even the king of Ashshur.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:18 - It shall happen in that day, that the LORD will hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Mitzrayim, and for the bee that is in the land of Ashshur.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:19 - They shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all thorn-hedges, and on all pastures.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:20 - In that day will the Lord shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Ashshur, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:21 - It shall happen in that day, that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep;
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:22 - and it shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall everyone eat that is left in the midst of the land.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:23 - It shall happen in that day, that every place, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver shekels, shall be for briers and thorns.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:24 - With arrows and with bow shall one come there, because all the land shall be briers and thorns.
Unchecked Copy BoxIsa 7:25 - All the hills that were dug with the mattock, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep."
