After this, Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or [fn]Sea of Tiberias).
Then Jesus, knowing that they were going to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountainside by Himself.
The next day the crowd that stood on the other side of the sea realized that there had been only one small boat there, and that Jesus had not boarded the boat with His disciples, but that His disciples had gone away alone.
Jesus answered, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, you have been searching for Me, not because you saw the signs (attesting miracles), but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
Jesus replied to them, “[fn]I am the Bread of Life. The one who comes to Me will never be hungry, and the one who believes in Me [as Savior] will never be thirsty [for that one will be sustained spiritually].
Now the Jews murmured and found fault with Him because He said, “I am the Bread that came down out of heaven.”
Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?”
When many of His disciples heard this, they said, “This is a difficult and harsh and offensive statement. Who can [be expected to] listen to it?”
As a result of this [fn]many of His disciples abandoned Him, and no longer walked with Him.
