And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.

But Joash said to all who stood against him, “Would you plead for Baal? Would you save him? Let the one who would plead for him be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him plead for himself, because his altar has been torn down!”

But Joash shouted to the mob that confronted him, “Why are you defending Baal? Will you argue his case? Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If Baal truly is a god, let him defend himself and destroy the one who broke down his altar!”

But Joash replied to the hostile crowd around him, “Are you going to plead Baal’s cause? Are you trying to save him? Whoever fights for him shall be put to death by morning! If Baal really is a god, he can defend himself when someone breaks down his altar.”

But Joash said to all who stood against him, “Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? Whoever contends for him shall be put to death by morning. If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because his altar has been broken down.”

فَقَالَ يُوآشُ لِجَمِيعِ الثَّائِرِينَ عَلَيْهِ: «أَعَازِمُونَ أَنْتُمْ عَلَى الدِّفَاعِ عَنِ الْبَعْلِ؟ أَمْ أَنْتُمْ تُحَاوِلُونَ إِنْقَاذَهُ؟ إِنَّ مَنْ يُقَاتِلُ دِفَاعاً عَنِ الْبَعْلِ حَتْماً يَمُوتُ فِي هَذَا الصَّبَاحِ (لأَنَّ ذَلِكَ إِهَانَةٌ لِلْبَعْلِ). إِنْ كَانَ الْبَعْلُ حَقّاً إِلَهاً فَلْيُقَاتِلْ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ لأَنَّ مَذْبَحَهُ قَدْ هُدِمَ».

καὶ εἶπεν Ιωας πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς ἑσταμένους ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν μὴ ὑμεῖς νῦν δικάζεσθε περὶ τοῦ Βααλ ὑμεῖς σῴζετε αὐτόν ὃς ἀντεδίκησεν αὐτόν ἀποθανεῖται ἕως πρωί εἰ ἔστιν θεός αὐτὸς ἐκδικήσει αὐτόν ὅτι κατέσκαψεν τὸ θυσιαστήριον αὐτοῦ

فَقَالَ يُوآشُ لِجَمِيعِ الْقَائِمِينَ عَلَيْهِ: «أَنْتُمْ تُقَاتِلُونَ لِلْبَعْلِ، أَمْ أَنْتُمْ تُخَلِّصُونَهُ؟ مَنْ يُقَاتِلْ لَهُ يُقْتَلْ فِي هذَا الصَّبَاحِ. إِنْ كَانَ إِلهًا فَلْيُقَاتِلْ لِنَفْسِهِ لأَنَّ مَذْبَحَهُ قَدْ هُدِمَ».

And Gedeon the son of Joas said to all the men who rose up against him, Do ye now plead for Baal, or will ye save him? whoever will plead for him, let him be slain this morning: if he be a god let him plead for himself, because one has thrown down his altar.

But Joash said to all those who were attacking him, Will you take up the cause of Baal? will you be his saviour? Let anyone who will take up his cause be put to death while it is still morning: if he is a god, let him take up his cause himself because of the pulling down of his altar.

約阿施回答站著攻擊他的眾人說、你們是為巴力爭論麼.你們要救他麼.誰為他爭論、趁早將誰治死.巴力若果是神、有人拆毀他的壇、讓他為自己爭論罷。

Joás respondió a todos los que estaban frente a él: --¿Contenderéis vosotros por Baal? ¿Vosotros lo defenderéis? ¡El que contienda por Baal, que muera antes de mañana! Si es un dios, que contienda por sí mismo, porque alguien ha derribado su altar.

요아스가 자기를 둘러선 모든자에게 이르되 너희가 바알을 위하여 쟁론 하느냐 너희가 바알을 구원 하겠느냐 그를 위하여 쟁론 하는자는 이 아침에 죽음을 당하리라 바알이 과연 신일진대 그 단을 훼파하였은즉 스스로 쟁론할 것이니라 하니라

Joas répondit à tous ceux qui se présentèrent à lui: Est-ce à vous de prendre parti pour Baal? est-ce à vous de venir à son secours? Quiconque prendra parti pour Baal mourra avant que le matin vienne. Si Baal est un dieu, qu'il plaide lui-même sa cause, puisqu'on a renversé son autel.

Joas aber sprach zu allen, die bei ihm standen: Wollt ihr um Baal hadern? Wollt ihr ihm helfen? Wer um ihn hadert, der soll dieses Morgens sterben. Ist er Gott, so rechte er um sich selbst, daß sein Altar zerbrochen ist.
