One person slaughters an ox, another kills a person;
one person sacrifices a lamb, another breaks a dog’s neck;
one person offers a grain offering, another offers pig’s blood;
one person offers incense, another praises an idol —
all these have chosen their ways
and delight in their abhorrent practices.
“But the one who slaughters H7819 an ox H7794 is like one who kills H5221 a person H376;
The one who sacrifices H2076 a lamb H7716 is like one who breaks H6202 a dog’s H3611 neck H6202;
One who offers H5927 a grain offering H4503 is like one who offers pig’s H2386 blood H1818;
One who [fn]burns H2142 incense H3828 is like one who blesses H1288 an idol H205.
As they have chosen H977 their own ways H1870,
And their souls H5315 delight H2654 in their abominations H8251,
“But he who slaughters H7819 an ox H7794 is the one who strikes H5221 down H5221 a man H376;
He who sacrifices H2076 a lamb H7716 is the one who breaks H6202 a dog’s H3611 neck H6202;
He who offers H5927 a grain offering H4503 is the one who offers swine’s H2386 blood H1818;
He who offers H2142 a memorial H2142 offering H2142 of frankincense H3828 is the one who blesses H1288 wickedness H205.
As they have chosen H977 their own ways H1870,
And their soul H5315 takes H2654 pleasure H2654 in their detestable H8251 things H8251,
“He who kills an ox [for pagan sacrifice] is [as guilty] as one who kills a man;
He who sacrifices a lamb, as one who breaks a dog’s neck;
He who offers a grain offering, as one who offers swine’s blood;
He who offers incense, as one who blesses an idol.
Such people have chosen their own ways,
And their soul delights in their repulsive acts;
