So the LORD God said to the serpent:
Because you have done this,
you are cursed more than any livestock
and more than any wild animal.
You will move on your belly
and eat dust all the days of your life.
“Because H3588 you have done H6213 this H2088,
Cursed H779 are you more H4480 than H4480 all H3605 the livestock H929,
And more H4480 than H4480 any H3605 animal H2416 of the field H7704;
On your belly H1512 you shall go H1980,
“Because H3588 you have done H6213 this H2088,
Cursed H779 are you more H4480 than H4480 any H3605 of the cattle H929,
And more H4480 than H4480 every H3605 beast H2416 of the field H7704;
On your belly H1512 you will go H1980,
“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all the cattle,
And more than any animal of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And dust you shall eat
All the days of your life.
In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
