Isaiah 7 :: Hebrew Names Version (HNV)

Isa 7:1It happened in the days of Achaz the son of Yotam, the son of `Uzziyah, king of Yehudah, that Retzin the king of Aram, and Pekach the son of Remalyahu, king of Yisra'el, went up to Yerushalayim to war against it, but could not prevail against it.
Isa 7:2It was told the house of David, saying, "Aram is allied with Efrayim." His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.
Isa 7:3Then the LORD said to Yesha`yahu, "Go forth now to meet Achaz, you, and She'ar-Yashuv your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller's field;
Isa 7:4and say to him, 'Take heed, and be quiet; don't be afraid, neither let your heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Retzin and Aram, and of the son of Remalyahu.
Isa 7:5Because Aram, Efrayim, and the son of Remalyahu, have purposed evil against you, saying,
Isa 7:6"Let us go up against Yehudah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tav'el;"
Isa 7:7thus says the Lord GOD, "It shall not stand, neither shall it happen."
Isa 7:8For the head of Aram is Dammesek, and the head of Dammesek is Retzin; and within sixty-five years shall Efrayim be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people:
Isa 7:9and the head of Efrayim is Shomron, and the head of Shomron is Remalyahu's son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.'"

The Child Immanuel

Isa 7:10The LORD spoke again to Achaz, saying,
Isa 7:11Ask a sign of the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
Isa 7:12But Achaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.
Isa 7:13He said, "Listen now, house of David: Is it a small thing for you to weary men, that you will weary my God also?
Isa 7:14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: behold, an almah shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanu'el.
Isa 7:15Butter and honey shall he eat, when he knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
Isa 7:16For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.

Trials to Come for Judah

Isa 7:17The LORD will bring on you, and on your people, and on your father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Efrayim departed from Yehudah even the king of Ashshur.
Isa 7:18It shall happen in that day, that the LORD will hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Mitzrayim, and for the bee that is in the land of Ashshur.
Isa 7:19They shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all thorn-hedges, and on all pastures.
Isa 7:20In that day will the Lord shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Ashshur, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.
Isa 7:21It shall happen in that day, that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep;
Isa 7:22and it shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall everyone eat that is left in the midst of the land.
Isa 7:23It shall happen in that day, that every place, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver shekels, shall be for briers and thorns.
Isa 7:24With arrows and with bow shall one come there, because all the land shall be briers and thorns.
Isa 7:25All the hills that were dug with the mattock, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep."
