Joshua’s Farewell Address

1 Now it came ^H1961 about ^H1961 after ^H310 many ^H7227 days ^H3117, when ^H310 H834 the LORD ^H3068 had given ^H5117 rest ^H5117 to Israel ^H3478 from all ^H3605 their enemies ^H340 on every ^H5439 side ^H5439, and Joshua ^H3091 was ^H2204 old ^H2204, advanced ^H935 in years ^H3117,

2 that Joshua ^H3091 called ^H7121 for all ^H3605 Israel ^H3478, for their elders ^H2205, their heads ^H7218, their judges ^H8199, and their officers ^H7860, and said ^H559 to them, “I am ^H2204 old ^H2204, advanced ^H935 in years ^H3117. 3 And you have seen ^H7200 all ^H3605 that the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 has done ^H6213 to all ^H3605 these ^H428 nations ^H1471 because ^H4480 H6440 of you, for the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 is He who has been fighting ^H3898 for you. 4 See ^H7200, I have apportioned ^H5307 to you these ^H428 nations ^H1471 which remain ^H7604 as an inheritance ^H5159 for your tribes ^H7626, with all ^H3605 the nations ^H1471 which ^H834 I have eliminated ^H3772, from the Jordan ^H3383 even to the Great ^H1419 Sea ^H3220 toward the [fn]west ^H3996 H8121. 5 And the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430, He will thrust ^H1920 them away ^H1920 from you and [fn]drive ^H3423 them from you; and you will take ^H3423 possession ^H3423 of their land ^H776, just ^H834 as ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 [fn]promised ^H1696 you. 6 Be ^H2388 very ^H3966 determined ^H2388, then, to keep ^H8104 and do ^H6213 everything ^H3605 that is written ^H3789 in the Book ^H5612 of the Law ^H8451 of Moses ^H4872, so that you will not turn ^H5493 aside ^H5493 from it to the right ^H3225 or to the left ^H8040, 7 so that you will not [fn]associate ^H935 with these ^H428 nations ^H1471, these ^H428 which remain ^H7604 with you, or mention ^H2142 the name ^H8034 of their gods ^H430, or make anyone swear ^H7650 by them, or serve ^H5647 them, or bow ^H2331 down ^H2331 to them. 8 But you are to cling ^H1692 to the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430, as you have done ^H6213 to this ^H2088 day ^H3117. 9 For the LORD ^H3068 has [fn]driven ^H3423 out ^H3423 great ^H1419 and mighty ^H6099 nations ^H1471 from before ^H6440 you; and as for you, no ^H3808 one ^H376 has stood ^H5975 against ^H6440 you to this ^H2088 day ^H3117. 10 One ^H259 of your men ^H376 puts ^H7291 to ^H7291 flight ^H7291 a thousand ^H505, for the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 is He who fights ^H3898 for you, just ^H834 as ^H834 He [fn]promised ^H1696 you. 11 So take ^H8104 great ^H3966 care ^H8104 for yourselves ^H5315 that you love ^H157 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430. 12 For if ^H518 you ever ^H7725 go ^H7725 back ^H7725 and cling ^H1692 to the rest ^H3499 of these ^H428 nations ^H1471, these ^H428 which remain ^H7604 with you, and intermarry ^H2859 with them, so that you [fn]associate ^H935 with them and they with you, 13 know ^H3045 with ^H3045 certainty ^H3045 that the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will not continue ^H3254 to [fn]drive ^H3423 these ^H428 nations ^H1471 out ^H3423 from before ^H6440 you; but they will be a snare ^H6341 and a trap ^H4170 to you, and a whip ^H7850 on your sides ^H6654 and thorns ^H6796 in your eyes ^H5869, until ^H5704 you perish ^H6 from this ^H2088 good ^H2896 land ^H127 which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 has given ^H5414 you.

14 “Now behold ^H2009, today ^H3117 I am going ^H1980 the way ^H1870 of all ^H3605 the earth ^H776, and you know ^H3045 in all ^H3605 your hearts ^H3824 and in all ^H3605 your souls ^H5315 that not one ^H259 word ^H1697 of all ^H3605 the good ^H2896 words ^H1697 which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 spoke ^H1696 concerning ^H5921 you has failed ^H5307; they all ^H3605 have [fn]been fulfilled ^H935 for you, not [fn]one ^H259 of them has failed ^H5307. 15 But it will come ^H1961 about ^H1961 that just ^H834 as ^H834 all ^H3605 the good ^H2896 words ^H1697 which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 spoke ^H1696 to you have come ^H935 upon you, so ^H3651 the LORD ^H3068 will bring ^H935 upon you [fn]all ^H3605 the warnings ^H7451 H1697, until ^H5704 He has eliminated ^H8045 you from this ^H2088 good ^H2896 land ^H776 which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 has given ^H5414 you. 16 When you violate ^H5674 the covenant ^H1285 of the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430, which ^H834 He commanded ^H6680 you, and you go ^H1980 and serve ^H5647 other ^H312 gods ^H430 and bow ^H2331 down ^H2331 to them, then the anger ^H639 of the LORD ^H3068 will burn ^H2734 against you, and you will perish ^H6 quickly ^H4120 from the good ^H2896 land ^H776 which ^H834 He has given ^H5414 you.”
