Warnings

1 “When ^H3588 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 brings ^H935 you into the land ^H776 where ^H834 H8033 you are entering ^H935 to take ^H3423 possession ^H3423 of it, and He drives ^H5394 away ^H5394 many ^H7227 nations ^H1471 from before ^H6440 you, the Hittites ^H2850, the Girgashites ^H1622, the Amorites ^H567, the Canaanites ^H3669, the Perizzites ^H6522, the Hivites ^H2340, and the Jebusites ^H2983, seven ^H7651 nations ^H1471 greater ^H7227 and mightier ^H6099 than ^H4480 you,

2 and when the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 turns ^H5414 them over ^H5414 to you and you [fn]defeat ^H5221 them, you shall [fn]utterly ^H2763 destroy ^H2763 them. You shall not make ^H3772 a covenant ^H1285 with them nor ^H3808 be ^H2603 gracious ^H2603 to them. 3 Furthermore, you shall not intermarry ^H2859 with them: you shall not give ^H5414 your [fn]daughters ^H1323 to [fn]their sons ^H1121, nor ^H3808 shall you take ^H3947 [fn]their daughters ^H1323 for your [fn]sons ^H1121. 4 For [fn]they will turn ^H5493 your [fn]sons ^H1121 away ^H5493 from [fn]following ^H310 Me, and they will serve ^H5647 other ^H312 gods ^H430; then the anger ^H639 of the LORD ^H3068 will be kindled ^H2734 against you and He will quickly ^H4118 destroy ^H8045 you. 5 But this ^H3541 is ^H3541 what ^H3541 you shall do ^H6213 to them: you shall tear ^H5422 down ^H5422 their altars ^H4196, smash ^H7665 their memorial ^H4676 stones ^H4676, cut ^H1438 their [fn]Asherim ^H842 to ^H1438 pieces ^H1438, and burn ^H8313 their carved ^H6456 images ^H6456 in the fire ^H784. 6 For you are a holy ^H6918 people ^H5971 to the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430; the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 has chosen ^H977 you to be a people ^H5971 for His personal ^H5459 possession ^H5459 out of all ^H3605 the peoples ^H5971 who ^H834 are on the face ^H6440 of the [fn]earth ^H127.

7 “The LORD ^H3068 did not [fn]make ^H2836 you His beloved ^H2836 nor ^H3808 choose ^H977 you because ^H3588 you were ^H7231 greater ^H7231 in number ^H7231 than ^H4480 any ^H3605 of the peoples ^H5971, since ^H3588 you were the fewest ^H4592 of all ^H3605 peoples ^H5971, 8 but because ^H3588 the LORD ^H3068 loved ^H157 you and kept ^H8104 the oath ^H7621 which ^H834 He swore ^H7650 to your forefathers ^H1, the LORD ^H3068 brought ^H3318 you out ^H3318 by a mighty ^H2389 hand ^H3027 and redeemed ^H6299 you from the house ^H1004 of [fn]slavery ^H5650, from the hand ^H3027 of Pharaoh ^H6547 king ^H4428 of Egypt ^H4714. 9 Know ^H3045 therefore that the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430, He is God ^H430, the faithful ^H539 God ^H410, who keeps ^H8104 [fn]His covenant ^H1285 and [fn]His faithfulness ^H2617 to a thousand ^H505 generations ^H1755 for those who love ^H157 Him and keep ^H8104 His commandments ^H4687; 10 but He repays ^H7999 those who hate ^H8130 Him to [fn]their faces ^H6440, to eliminate ^H6 [fn]them; He will not hesitate ^H309 toward him who hates ^H8130 Him, He will repay ^H7999 him to his face ^H6440. 11 Therefore, you shall keep ^H8104 the commandment ^H4687, the statutes ^H2706, and the judgments ^H4941 which ^H834 I am commanding ^H6680 you today ^H3117, to do ^H6213 them.

Promises of God

12 “Then it shall come ^H1961 about ^H1961, because ^H6118 you listen ^H8085 to these ^H428 judgments ^H4941 and keep ^H8104 and do ^H6213 them, that the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will keep ^H8104 [fn]His covenant ^H1285 with you and [fn]His faithfulness ^H2617 which ^H834 He swore ^H7650 to your forefathers ^H1.

13 And He will love ^H157 you, bless ^H1288 you, and make ^H7235 you numerous ^H7235; He will also bless ^H1288 the fruit ^H6529 of your womb ^H990 and the fruit ^H6529 of your ground ^H127, your grain ^H1715, your new ^H8492 wine ^H8492, and your oil ^H3323, the newborn ^H7698 of your cattle ^H504 and the offspring ^H6251 of your flock ^H6629, [fn]in the land ^H127 which ^H834 He swore ^H7650 to your forefathers ^H1 to give ^H5414 you. 14 You shall be blessed ^H1288 above ^H4480 all ^H3605 peoples ^H5971; there will be no ^H3808 sterile ^H6135 male ^H6135 or infertile ^H6135 female ^H6135 among you or among your cattle ^H929. 15 And the LORD ^H3068 will remove ^H5493 from you all ^H3605 sickness ^H2483; and He will not inflict ^H7760 upon you any ^H3605 of the harmful ^H7451 diseases ^H4064 of Egypt ^H4714 which ^H834 you have known ^H3045, but He will give ^H5414 them to all ^H3605 who hate ^H8130 you. 16 You shall consume ^H398 all ^H3605 the peoples ^H5971 whom ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will turn ^H5414 over ^H5414 to you; your eye ^H5869 shall not pity ^H2347 them, nor ^H3808 shall you serve ^H5647 their gods ^H430, for that would be a snare ^H4170 to you.

17 “If ^H3588 you say ^H559 in your heart ^H3824, ‘These ^H428 nations ^H1471 are greater ^H7227 than ^H4480 I; how ^H351 can ^H3201 I dispossess ^H3423 them?’ 18 you are not to be ^H3372 afraid ^H3372 of them; you shall remember ^H2142 well ^H2142 what ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 did ^H6213 to Pharaoh ^H6547 and to all ^H3605 Egypt ^H4714: 19 the great ^H1419 trials ^H4531 which ^H834 your eyes ^H5869 saw ^H7200 and the signs ^H226 and the wonders ^H4159, and the mighty ^H2389 hand ^H3027 and the outstretched ^H5186 arm ^H2220 by which ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 brought ^H3318 you out ^H3318. The LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will do ^H6213 the same ^H3651 to all ^H3605 the peoples ^H5971 of whom ^H834 you are ^H3372 afraid ^H3372. 20 Indeed ^H1571, the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will send ^H7971 the hornet ^H6880 against them, until ^H5704 those who are left ^H7604 and hide ^H5641 themselves from you perish ^H6. 21 You are not to be terrified ^H6206 of them, because ^H3588 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 is in your midst ^H7130, a great ^H1419 and awesome ^H3372 God ^H410. 22 And the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will drive ^H5394 away ^H5394 these ^H411 nations ^H1471 from you little ^H4592 by little ^H4592; you will not be ^H3201 able ^H3201 to put ^H3615 an ^H3615 end ^H3615 to ^H3615 them quickly ^H4118, otherwise ^H6435 the [fn]wild ^H7704 animals ^H2416 would become ^H7235 too ^H5921 numerous ^H7235 for you. 23 But the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will turn ^H5414 them over ^H5414 to you, and will [fn]throw ^H1949 them into great ^H1419 confusion ^H4103 until ^H5704 they are destroyed ^H8045. 24 And He will hand ^H3027 H5414 over ^H5414 their kings ^H4428 to you, so that you will eliminate ^H6 their name ^H8034 from under ^H8478 heaven ^H8064; no ^H3808 one ^H376 will be able to stand ^H3320 against ^H6440 you until ^H5704 you have destroyed ^H8045 them. 25 The carved ^H6456 images ^H6456 of their gods ^H430 you are to burn ^H8313 with fire ^H784; you shall not covet ^H2530 the silver ^H3701 or the gold ^H2091 that is on them, nor ^H3808 take ^H3947 it for yourselves, or ^H6435 you will be trapped ^H3369 by it; for it is an abomination ^H8441 to the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430. 26 And you shall not bring ^H935 an abomination ^H8441 into your house ^H1004 and become ^H1961 designated ^H2764 for ^H2764 destruction ^H2764, like ^H3644 it; you are to utterly ^H8262 detest ^H8262 it, and you are to utterly ^H8581 loathe ^H8581 it, for it is something ^H2764 designated ^H2764 for ^H2764 destruction ^H2764.
