The Blessings at Mount Gerizim

1 “Now it shall be, if ^H518 you diligently ^H8085 [fn]obey ^H8085 H6963 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430, being ^H8104 careful ^H8104 to do ^H6213 all ^H3605 His commandments ^H4687 which ^H834 I am commanding ^H6680 you today ^H3117, that the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 will put ^H5414 you high ^H5945 above ^H5921 all ^H3605 the nations ^H1471 of the earth ^H776.

2 And all ^H3605 these ^H428 blessings ^H1293 will come ^H935 to you and reach ^H5381 you if ^H3588 you [fn]obey ^H8085 H6963 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430:

3 “Blessed ^H1288 will you be in the city ^H5892, and blessed ^H1288 will you be in the [fn]country ^H7704.

4 “Blessed ^H1288 will be the [fn]children ^H6529 of your womb ^H990, the [fn]produce ^H6529 of your ground ^H127, and the [fn]offspring ^H6529 of your animals ^H929: the newborn ^H7698 of your herd ^H504 and the young ^H6251 of your flock ^H6629.

5 “Blessed ^H1288 will be your basket ^H2935 and your kneading ^H4863 bowl ^H4863.

6 “Blessed ^H1288 will you be when you come ^H935 in ^H935, and blessed ^H1288 will you be when you go ^H3318 out ^H3318.

Consequences of Disobedience

15 “But it shall come ^H1961 about ^H1961, if ^H518 you do not [fn]obey ^H8085 H6963 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430, to be ^H8104 careful ^H8104 to [fn]follow ^H6213 all ^H3605 His commandments ^H4687 and His statutes ^H2708 which ^H834 I am commanding ^H6680 you today ^H3117, that all ^H3605 these ^H428 curses ^H7045 will come ^H935 upon you and overtake ^H5381 you:

19 “Cursed ^H779 will you be when you come ^H935 in ^H935, and cursed ^H779 will you be when you go ^H3318 out ^H3318.

20 “The LORD ^H3068 will send ^H7971 against you curses ^H3994, panic ^H4103, and rebuke ^H4045, in [fn]everything ^H3605 you undertake ^H3027 H4916 to do ^H6213, until ^H5704 you are destroyed ^H8045 and until ^H5704 you perish ^H6 quickly ^H4118, on ^H4480 H6440 account ^H4480 H6440 of ^H4480 H6440 the evil ^H7455 of your deeds ^H4611, because ^H834 you have abandoned ^H5800 Me.

25 “The LORD ^H3068 will cause ^H5414 you to be defeated ^H5062 by ^H6440 your enemies ^H340; you will go ^H3318 out ^H3318 one ^H259 way ^H1870 against ^H413 them, but you will flee ^H5127 seven ^H7651 ways ^H1870 from their presence ^H6440, and you will be an example of terror ^H2113 to all ^H3605 the kingdoms ^H4467 of the earth ^H776. 26 Your dead ^H5038 bodies ^H5038 will [fn]serve as food ^H3978 for all ^H3605 birds ^H5775 of the sky ^H8064 and for the animals ^H929 of the earth ^H776, and there ^H369 will ^H369 be ^H369 no ^H369 one ^H369 to frighten ^H2729 them away.

47 “Since ^H8478 H834 you did not serve ^H5647 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430 with joy ^H8057 and a cheerful ^H2898 heart ^H3824, in gratitude for the abundance ^H7230 of all ^H3605 things, 48 you will serve ^H5647 your enemies ^H340 whom ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 will send ^H7971 against you, in hunger ^H7458, thirst ^H6772, nakedness ^H5903, and devoid ^H2640 of all ^H3605 things; and He will put ^H5414 an iron ^H1270 yoke ^H5923 on your neck ^H6677 until ^H5704 He has destroyed ^H8045 you.

58 “If ^H518 you are ^H8104 not careful ^H8104 to [fn]follow ^H6213 all ^H3605 the words ^H1697 of this ^H2088 Law ^H8451 that are written ^H3789 in this ^H2088 book ^H5612, to [fn]fear ^H3372 this ^H2088 honored ^H3513 and awesome ^H3372 name ^H8034, [fn]the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430, 59 then the LORD ^H3068 will bring ^H6381 extraordinary ^H6381 plagues ^H4347 on you and [fn]your descendants ^H2233, [fn]severe ^H1419 and lasting ^H539 plagues ^H4347, and miserable ^H7451 and chronic ^H539 sicknesses ^H2483. 60 And He will bring ^H7725 back ^H7725 on you every ^H3605 disease ^H4064 of Egypt ^H4714 of which ^H834 you were afraid ^H3025, and they will cling ^H1692 to you. 61 Also ^H1571 every ^H3605 sickness ^H2483 and every ^H3605 plague ^H4347, which ^H834 are not written ^H3789 in the book ^H5612 of this ^H2088 Law ^H8451, the LORD ^H3068 will bring ^H5927 on you until ^H5704 you are destroyed ^H8045. 62 Then you will be left ^H7604 few ^H4592 in [fn]number ^H4962, whereas ^H8478 H834 you were as numerous ^H7230 as the stars ^H3556 of heaven ^H8064, because ^H3588 you did not [fn]obey ^H8085 H6963 the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430. 63 And it will come ^H1961 about ^H1961 that, just ^H834 as ^H834 the LORD ^H3068 rejoiced ^H7797 over ^H5921 you to be ^H3190 good ^H3190 to you, and make ^H7235 you numerous ^H7235, so ^H3651 will the LORD ^H3068 rejoice ^H7797 over ^H5921 you to wipe ^H6 you out ^H6 and destroy ^H8045 you; and you will be torn ^H5255 away ^H5255 from the land ^H127 which ^H834 H8033 you are entering ^H935 to possess ^H3423. 64 Furthermore, the LORD ^H3068 will scatter ^H6327 you among all ^H3605 the peoples ^H5971, from one end ^H7097 of the earth ^H776 to [fn]the other; and there ^H8033 you will serve ^H5647 other ^H312 gods ^H430, made of wood ^H6086 and stone ^H68, which ^H834 you and your fathers ^H1 have not known ^H3045. 65 Among those ^H1992 nations ^H1471 you will find ^H7280 no ^H3808 peace ^H7280, and there will be no ^H3808 resting ^H4494 place ^H4494 for the sole ^H3709 of your foot ^H7272; but there ^H8033 the LORD ^H3068 will give ^H5414 you a trembling ^H7268 heart ^H3820, failing ^H3631 of eyes ^H5869, and despair ^H1671 of soul ^H5315. 66 So your lives ^H2416 will be [fn]hanging ^H8511 in doubt before you; and you will be terrified ^H6342 night ^H3915 and day ^H3119, and have ^H539 no ^H3808 assurance ^H539 of your life ^H2416. 67 In the morning ^H1242 you will say ^H559, ‘If ^H4310 H5414 only ^H4310 H5414 it were evening ^H6153!’ And at evening ^H6153 you will say ^H559, ‘If ^H4310 H5414 only ^H4310 H5414 it were morning ^H1242!’ because ^H4480 of the terror ^H6343 of your heart ^H3824 which ^H834 you fear ^H6342, and the sight ^H4758 of your eyes ^H5869 which ^H834 you will see ^H7200. 68 And the LORD ^H3068 will bring ^H7725 you back ^H7725 to Egypt ^H4714 in ships ^H591, by the way ^H1870 about which ^H834 I said ^H559 to you, ‘You will never ^H3808 see ^H7200 it again ^H3254!’ And there ^H8033 you will offer ^H4376 yourselves for ^H4376 sale ^H4376 to your enemies ^H340 as male ^H5650 and female ^H8198 slaves ^H8198 H5650, but there ^H369 will ^H369 be ^H369 no ^H369 buyer ^H7069.”
