The Tablets Rewritten
1 “At that time H6256 the LORD H3068 said H559 to me, ‘Cut H6458 out H6458 for yourself two H8147 tablets H3871 of stone H68 like the first H7223 two, and come H5927 up H5927 to Me on the mountain H2022, and make H6213 an [fn]ark H727 of wood H6086 for yourself.
2 Then I will write H3789 on the tablets H3871 the words H1697 that were on the first H7223 tablets H3871 which H834 you smashed H7665 to H7665 pieces H7665, and you shall put H7760 them in the ark H727.’ 3 So I made H6213 an ark H727 of acacia H7848 wood H6086 and cut H6458 out H6458 two H8147 tablets H3871 of stone H68 like the first H7223 two, and I went H5927 up H5927 on the mountain H2022 with the two H8147 tablets H3871 in my hand H3027. 4 Then He wrote H3789 on the tablets H3871, like the first H7223 writing H4385, the Ten H6235 [fn]Commandments H1697 which H834 the LORD H3068 had spoken H1696 to you on the mountain H2022 from the midst H8432 of the fire H784 on the day H3117 of the assembly H6951; and the LORD H3068 gave H5414 them to me. 5 Then I turned H6437 and came H3381 down H3381 from the mountain H2022, and I put H7760 the tablets H3871 in the ark H727 which H834 I had made H6213; and they are there H8033, just H834 as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 me.”
6 (Now the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 set H5265 out H5265 from [fn]Beeroth H885 Bene-jaakan H885 to Moserah H4149. There H8033 Aaron H175 died H4191 and there H8033 he was buried H6912, and his son H1121 Eleazar H499 served H3547 as H3547 priest H3547 in H8478 his place H8478. 7 From there H8033 they set H5265 out H5265 to Gudgodah H1412, and from Gudgodah H1412 to Jotbathah H3193, a land H776 of streams H5158 of water H4325. 8 At that time H6256 the LORD H3068 singled H914 out H914 the tribe H7626 of Levi H3878 to carry H5375 the ark H727 of the covenant H1285 of the LORD H3068, to stand H5975 before H6440 the LORD H3068 to serve H8334 Him and to bless H1288 in His name H8034, until H5704 this H2088 day H3117. 9 Therefore H5921 H3651, Levi H3878 does not have H1961 a portion H2506 or inheritance H5159 with his brothers H251; the LORD H3068 is his inheritance H5159, just H834 as H834 the LORD H3068 your God H430 spoke H1696 to him.)
10 “I, moreover, stayed H5975 on the mountain H2022 for forty H705 days H3117 and forty H705 nights H3915 like the first H7223 time H3117, and the LORD H3068 listened H8085 to me that time H6471 also H1571; the LORD H3068 was H14 not willing H14 to destroy H7843 you. 11 Then the LORD H3068 said H559 to me, ‘Arise H6965, proceed H1980 on your journey H4550 ahead H6440 of the people H5971, so that they may go H935 in H935 and take H3423 possession H3423 of the land H776 which H834 I swore H7650 to their fathers H1 to give H5414 them.’
12 “And now H6258, Israel H3478, what H4100 does the LORD H3068 your God H430 require H7592 of you, but to [fn]fear H3372 the LORD H3068 your God H430, to walk H1980 in all H3605 His ways H1870 and love H157 Him, and to serve H5647 the LORD H3068 your God H430 with all H3605 your heart H3824 and with all H3605 your soul H5315, 13 and to keep H8104 the LORD’S H3068 commandments H4687 and His statutes H2708 which H834 I am commanding H6680 you today H3117 for your good H2896? 14 Behold H2005, to the LORD H3068 your God H430 belong heaven H8064 and the [fn]highest H8064 heavens H8064, the earth H776 and all H3605 that is in it. 15 Yet H7534 the LORD H3068 set H2836 His affection H2836 on your fathers H1, to love H157 them, and He chose H977 their [fn]descendants H2233 after H310 them, you over H4480 all H3605 the other peoples H5971, as it is this H2088 day H3117. 16 So circumcise H4135 [fn]your heart H3824, and do not stiffen H7185 your neck H6203 any H5750 longer H5750. 17 For the LORD H3068 your God H430 is the God H430 of gods H430 and the Lord H136 of lords H113, the great H1419, the mighty H1368, and the awesome H3372 God H410, who H834 does not show H5375 partiality H5375 H6440, nor H3808 take H3947 a bribe H7810. 18 He executes H6213 justice H4941 for the orphan H3490 and the widow H490, and shows H157 His love H157 for the stranger H1616 by giving H5414 him food H3899 and clothing H8071. 19 So show H157 your love H157 for the stranger H1616, for you were strangers H1616 in the land H776 of Egypt H4714. 20 You shall fear H3372 the LORD H3068 your God H430; you shall serve H5647 Him, and cling H1692 to Him, and you shall swear H7650 by His name H8034. 21 He is your glory H8416 and He is your God H430, who H834 has done H6213 these H428 great H1419 and awesome H3372 things H3372 for you which H834 your eyes H5869 have seen H7200. 22 Your fathers H1 went H3381 down H3381 to Egypt H4714 seventy H7657 persons H5315 in all, and now H6258 the LORD H3068 your God H430 has made H7760 you as numerous H7230 as the stars H3556 of heaven H8064.
