The Conquest of Jericho

1 Now Jericho ^H3405 was tightly ^H5462 shut ^H5462 because ^H4480 H6440 of the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478; no ^H369 one ^H369 went ^H3318 out ^H3318 and no ^H369 one ^H369 came ^H935 in ^H935.

2 But the LORD ^H3068 said ^H559 to Joshua ^H3091, “See ^H7200, I have handed ^H5414 H3027 Jericho ^H3405 over ^H5414 to you, with its king ^H4428 and the valiant ^H2428 warriors ^H1368. 3 And you shall march ^H5437 around ^H5437 the city ^H5892, all ^H3605 the men ^H376 of war ^H4421 circling ^H5362 the city ^H5892 once ^H259 H6471. You shall do ^H6213 so ^H3541 for six ^H8337 days ^H3117. 4 Also seven ^H7651 priests ^H3548 shall carry ^H5375 seven ^H7651 trumpets ^H7782 of rams’ ^H3104 horns ^H3104 in front ^H6440 of the ark ^H727; then on the seventh ^H7637 day ^H3117 you shall march ^H5437 around ^H5437 the city ^H5892 seven ^H7651 times ^H6471, and the priests ^H3548 shall blow ^H8628 the trumpets ^H7782. 5 It shall be that when they make ^H4900 a ^H4900 long ^H4900 blast ^H4900 with the ram’s ^H3104 horn ^H7161, and when you hear ^H8085 the sound ^H6963 of the trumpet ^H7782, all ^H3605 the people ^H5971 shall shout ^H7321 with a great ^H1419 shout ^H8643; and the wall ^H2346 of the city ^H5892 will fall ^H5307 down ^H5307 [fn]flat ^H8478, and the people ^H5971 shall go ^H5927 up ^H5927, everyone ^H376 [fn]straight ^H5048 ahead ^H5048.”

15 Then on the seventh ^H7637 day ^H3117 they got ^H7925 up ^H7925 early ^H7925 at the dawning ^H7837 H5927 of ^H7837 the day ^H7837 and marched ^H5437 around ^H5437 the city ^H5892 in the same ^H2088 way ^H4941 seven ^H7651 times ^H6471; only ^H7534 on that day ^H3117 did they march ^H5437 around ^H5437 the city ^H5892 seven ^H7651 times ^H6471. 16 And at the seventh ^H7637 time ^H6471, when the priests ^H3548 blew ^H8628 the trumpets ^H7782, Joshua ^H3091 said ^H559 to the people ^H5971, “Shout ^H7321! For the LORD ^H3068 has given ^H5414 you the city ^H5892. 17 But the city ^H5892 shall be designated ^H2764 for ^H2764 [fn]destruction ^H2764, it and everything ^H3605 that is in it belongs to the LORD ^H3068; only ^H7534 Rahab ^H7343 the prostitute ^H2181 [fn]and all ^H3605 who ^H834 are with her in the house ^H1004 shall live ^H2421, because ^H3588 she hid ^H2244 the messengers ^H4397 whom ^H834 we sent ^H7971. 18 But as for you, only ^H7534 keep ^H8104 yourselves from the things ^H2764 designated ^H2764 for ^H2764 destruction ^H2764, so ^H6435 that ^H6435 you do not ^H6435 covet ^H2530 them and take ^H3947 some ^H4480 of the designated ^H2764 things ^H2764, and turn ^H7760 the camp ^H4264 of Israel ^H3478 into something ^H2764 designated ^H2764 for ^H2764 destruction ^H2764 and bring ^H5916 disaster ^H5916 on ^H5916 it. 19 But all ^H3605 the silver ^H3701 and gold ^H2091, and articles ^H3627 of bronze ^H5178 and iron ^H1270 are holy ^H6944 to the LORD ^H3068; they shall go ^H935 into the treasury ^H214 of the LORD ^H3068.” 20 So the people ^H5971 shouted ^H7321, and [fn]the priests blew ^H8628 the trumpets ^H7782; and when the people ^H5971 heard ^H8085 the sound ^H6963 of the trumpet ^H7782, the people ^H5971 shouted ^H7321 with a great ^H1419 shout ^H8643, and the wall ^H2346 fell ^H5307 down ^H5307 [fn]flat ^H8478, so that the people ^H5971 went ^H5927 up ^H5927 into the city ^H5892, everyone ^H376 straight ^H5048 [fn]ahead ^H5048, and they took ^H3920 the city ^H5892. 21 They [fn]utterly ^H2763 destroyed ^H2763 everything ^H3605 in the city ^H5892, both ^H4480 H5704 man ^H376 and woman ^H802, young ^H5288 and old ^H2205, and ox ^H7794, sheep ^H7716, and donkey ^H2543, with the edge ^H6310 of the sword ^H2719.

22 And Joshua ^H3091 said ^H559 to the two ^H8147 men ^H376 who had spied ^H7270 out ^H7270 the land ^H776, “Go ^H935 into the prostitute’s ^H2181 house ^H1004 and bring ^H3318 the woman ^H802 and all ^H3605 she has out ^H3318 of there ^H8033, just ^H834 as ^H834 you have sworn ^H7650 to her.” 23 So the young ^H5288 men ^H5288 who were spies ^H7270 went ^H935 in ^H935 and brought ^H3318 out ^H3318 Rahab ^H7343, her father ^H1, her mother ^H517, her brothers ^H251, and all ^H3605 she had; they also brought ^H3318 out ^H3318 all ^H3605 her relatives ^H4940, and placed ^H5117 them outside ^H4480 H2351 the camp ^H4264 of Israel ^H3478. 24 Then they burned ^H8313 the city ^H5892 with fire ^H784, and all ^H3605 that was in it. Only ^H7534 the silver ^H3701 and gold ^H2091, and the articles ^H3627 of bronze ^H5178 and iron ^H1270, they put ^H5414 into the treasury ^H214 of the [fn]house ^H1004 of the LORD ^H3068. 25 However, Rahab ^H7343 the prostitute ^H2181 and her father’s ^H1 household ^H1004 and all ^H3605 she had, Joshua ^H3091 [fn]spared ^H2421; and she has lived ^H3427 in the midst ^H7130 of Israel ^H3478 to this ^H2088 day ^H3117, because ^H3588 she hid ^H2244 the messengers ^H4397 whom ^H834 Joshua ^H3091 sent ^H7971 to spy ^H7270 out ^H7270 Jericho ^H3405.

26 Then Joshua ^H3091 made them take ^H7650 an ^H7650 oath ^H7650 at that time ^H6256, saying ^H559, “Cursed ^H779 before ^H6440 the LORD ^H3068 is the man ^H376 who ^H834 rises ^H6965 up ^H6965 and builds ^H1129 this ^H2088 city ^H5892 Jericho ^H3405; with the loss of his firstborn ^H1060 he will lay ^H3245 its foundation ^H3245, and with the loss of his youngest ^H6810 son ^H6810 he will set ^H5324 up ^H5324 its gates ^H1817.” 27 So the LORD ^H3068 was with Joshua ^H3091, and his fame ^H8089 was in all ^H3605 the land ^H776.
