When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live[fn] in my presence and be blameless.

“You must have an unblemished animal, a year-old male; you may take it from either the sheep or the goats.

“This is what you are to do for them to consecrate them to serve me as priests. Take a young bull and two unblemished rams,

“If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to bring an unblemished male. He will bring it to the entrance to the tent of meeting so that he[fn] may be accepted by the LORD.

“But if his offering for a burnt offering is from the flock, from sheep or goats, he is to present an unblemished male.

“If his offering is a fellowship sacrifice, and he is presenting an animal from the herd, whether male or female, he is to present one without blemish before the LORD.

“If his offering as a fellowship sacrifice to the LORD is from the flock, he is to present a male or female without blemish.

“He will then present part of the fellowship sacrifice as a food offering to the LORD consisting of its fat and the entire fat tail, which he is to remove close to the backbone. He will also remove the fat surrounding the entrails, all the fat on the entrails,

“If the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he is to present to the LORD a young, unblemished bull as a sin[fn] offering for the sin he has committed.

“or someone informs him about the sin he has committed, he is to bring an unblemished male goat as his offering.

“or if someone informs him about the sin he has committed, then he is to bring an unblemished female goat as his offering for the sin that he has committed.

“Or if the offering that he brings as a sin offering is a lamb, he is to bring an unblemished female.

“If someone offends by sinning unintentionally in regard to any of the LORD’s holy things,[fn] he must bring his penalty for guilt to the LORD: an unblemished ram from the flock (based on your assessment of its value in silver shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel) as a guilt offering.

“He must bring an unblemished ram from the flock according to your assessment of its value as a guilt offering to the priest. Then the priest will make atonement on his behalf for the error he has committed unintentionally, and he will be forgiven.

“Then he is to bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram from the flock according to your assessment of its value as a guilt offering to the priest.

“He is to present an offering to the LORD of one unblemished year-old male lamb as a burnt offering, one unblemished year-old female lamb as a sin offering, one unblemished ram as a fellowship offering,

“This is the legal statute that the LORD has commanded: Instruct the Israelites to bring you an unblemished red cow that has no defect and has never been yoked.

“And say to them: This is the food offering you are to present to the LORD:

“Each day present two unblemished year-old male lambs as a regular burnt offering.

“On the Sabbath day present two unblemished year-old male lambs, four quarts[fn] of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and its drink offering.

“At the beginning of each of your months present a burnt offering to the LORD: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“Present a food offering, a burnt offering to the LORD: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. Your animals are to be unblemished.

“Offer them with their drink offerings in addition to the regular burnt offering and its grain offering. Your animals are to be unblemished.

“Offer a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to the LORD: one young bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“Present a burnt offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma: one young bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. All your animals are to be unblemished.

“Present a burnt offering, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD: thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old. They are to be unblemished.

“On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“On the third day present eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“On the fourth day present ten bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“On the fifth day present nine bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“On the sixth day present eight bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“On the seventh day present seven bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“Present a burnt offering, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD: one bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“You must be blameless before the LORD your God.

The Rock ​— ​his work is perfect;

all his ways are just.

A faithful God, without bias,

he is righteous and true.

And the sun stood still

and the moon stopped

until the nation took vengeance on its enemies.

Isn’t this written in the Book of Jashar?[fn]

So the sun stopped

in the middle of the sky

and delayed its setting

almost a full day.
