“You must not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and corrupts the words[fn] of the righteous.

“For the LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awe-inspiring God, showing no partiality and taking no bribe.

“Do not deny justice or show partiality to anyone. Do not accept a bribe, for it blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.

“‘The one who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person is cursed.’

And all the people will say, ‘Amen! ’

However, his sons did not walk in his ways ​— ​they turned toward dishonest profit, took bribes, and perverted justice.
