God met with him and Balaam said to him, “I have arranged seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.”

So Balak took him to Lookout Field[fn] on top of Pisgah, built seven altars, and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

Balaam told Balak, “Build me seven altars here and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me.”

So Balak did as Balaam said and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

“with six quarts[fn] of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for each bull, four quarts of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for the ram,

“Their drink offerings are to be two quarts[fn] of wine with each bull, one and a third quarts[fn] with the ram, and one quart[fn] with each male lamb. This is the monthly burnt offering for all the months of the year.

“Present a food offering, a burnt offering to the LORD: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. Your animals are to be unblemished.

“The grain offering with them is to be of fine flour mixed with oil; offer six quarts with each bull and four quarts with the ram.

“Present a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to the LORD: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old,

“with their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, six quarts with each bull, four quarts with the ram,

“with their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, six quarts[fn] with the bull, four quarts[fn] with the ram,

“Present a burnt offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma: one young bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. All your animals are to be unblemished.

“Present a burnt offering, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD: thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old. They are to be unblemished.

“Their grain offering is to be of fine flour mixed with oil, six quarts with each of the thirteen bulls, four quarts with each of the two rams,

“On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.

“On the third day present eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“Present a burnt offering, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD: one bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old ​— ​all unblemished ​— ​

“with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.

“Build a well-constructed altar to the LORD your God on the top of this mound. Take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down.”

When the men of the city got up in the morning, they found Baal’s altar torn down, the Asherah pole beside it cut down, and the second bull offered up on the altar that had been built.

Then they slaughtered the bull and brought the boy to Eli.

Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Since you are so numerous, choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first. Then call on the name of your god but don’t light the fire.”

So they took the bull that he gave them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “Baal, answer us! ” But there was no sound; no one answered. Then they danced[fn] around the altar they had made.

Next, he arranged the wood, cut up the bull, and placed it on the wood. He said, “Fill four water pots with water and pour it on the offering to be burned and on the wood.”
