Nebo = "prophet"
a Babylonian deity who presided over learning and letters; corresponds to Greek Hermes, Latin Mercury, and Egyptian Thoth
a city in Moab and at one time assigned to Reuben; probably located on or near Mount Nebo
a city in Judah (maybe Benjamin) from which the families of some exiles, who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel, originally came
the mountain where Moses died; located east of the Jordan opposite Jericho; site uncertain
Strong's Number H5015 matches the Hebrew נְבוֹ (nᵊḇô),
which occurs 13 times in 13 verses
in the WLC Hebrew.
“The territory of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam,[fn] Nebo, and Beon,
as well as Nebo and Baal-meon (whose names were changed), and Sibmah. They gave names to the cities they rebuilt.
“Go up Mount Nebo in the Abarim range in the land of Moab, across from Jericho, and view the land of Canaan I am giving the Israelites as a possession.
Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which faces Jericho, and the LORD showed him all the land: Gilead as far as Dan,
and Bela son of Azaz,
son of Shema, son of Joel.
They settled in Aroer as far as Nebo and Baal-meon.
Dibon went up to its temple
to weep at its high places.
Moab wails on Nebo and at[fn] Medeba.
Every head is shaved;
every beard is chopped short.
Bel crouches; Nebo cowers.
Idols depicting them are consigned to beasts and cattle.
The images you carry are loaded,
as a burden for the weary animal.
About Moab, this is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says:
Woe to Nebo, because it is about to be destroyed;
Kiriathaim will be put to shame; it will be taken captive.
The fortress will be put to shame and dismayed!
