“I will appoint him over my house and my kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.’ ”
“He is the one who will build a house for my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’
“And out of all my sons — for the LORD has given me many sons — he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the LORD’s kingdom over Israel.
Solomon sat on the LORD’s throne as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.
So the LORD has fulfilled what he promised.
I have taken the place of my father David
and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised.

The LORD swore an oath to David,
a promise he will not abandon:

Wicked behavior is detestable to kings,
since a throne is established through righteousness.
Remove the wicked from the king’s presence,
and his throne will be established in righteousness.
