Jahaz or Jahazah or Jahzah = "trodden down"
a place in Reuben east of the Dead Sea where Israel defeated Sihon king of the Amorites; site uncertain
Strong's Number H3096 matches the Hebrew יַהַץ (yahaṣ),
which occurs 9 times in 9 verses
in the WLC Hebrew.
But Sihon would not let Israel travel through his territory. Instead, he gathered his whole army and went out to confront Israel in the wilderness. When he came to Jahaz, he fought against Israel.
From the tribe of Reuben they gave:
Bezer with its pasturelands, Jahzah[fn] with its pasturelands,
“but Sihon would not trust Israel to pass through his territory. Instead, Sihon gathered all his troops, camped at Jahaz, and fought with Israel.
From the tribe of Reuben across the Jordan at Jericho, to the east of the Jordan, they received Bezer in the desert and its pasturelands, Jahzah and its pasturelands,
Heshbon and Elealeh cry out;
their voices are heard as far away as Jahaz.
Therefore the soldiers of Moab cry out,
and they tremble.
