And he who hurries ^H213 [fn]his footsteps ^H7272 sins ^H2398.

Strike ^H5221 a scoffer ^H3887 and the simple ^H6612 may become ^H6191 prudent ^H6191,

But reprove ^H3198 one who has ^H995 understanding ^H995 and he will understand ^H995 knowledge ^H1847.

Cease ^H2308 listening ^H8085, my son ^H1121, to discipline ^H4148,

And you will stray ^H7686 from the words ^H561 of knowledge ^H1847.

There ^H3426 is ^H3426 gold ^H2091, and an abundance ^H7230 of pearls ^H6443;

But the lips ^H8193 of knowledge ^H1847 are a more ^H637 precious ^H3366 vessel ^H3627.

When the scoffer ^H3887 is punished ^H6064, the simple ^H6612 becomes ^H2449 wise ^H2449;

And when one considers ^H7919 wisdom ^H2449, he receives ^H3947 knowledge ^H1847.

Every ^H3605 goldsmith ^H6884 is put ^H954 to ^H954 shame ^H954 by his graven ^H6459 images ^H6459;

For his molten ^H5262 images ^H5262 are a lie ^H8267,

And there is no ^H3808 breath ^H7307 in them.

“He pled ^H1777 the cause ^H1779 of the afflicted ^H6041 and needy ^H34;

Then ^H227 it was well ^H2895.

Is not that what it means to know ^H1847 Me?”

Declares ^H5002 Yahweh ^H3068.

All ^H3605 mankind ^H120 is ^H1197 senseless ^H1197, devoid ^H4480 of knowledge ^H1847;

Every ^H3605 goldsmith ^H6884 is put ^H954 to ^H954 shame ^H954 by his graven ^H6459 image ^H6459,

For his molten ^H5262 images ^H5262 are a lie ^H8267,

And there is no ^H3808 breath ^H7307 in them.

Listen ^H8085 to the word ^H1697 of Yahweh ^H3068, O sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478,

For Yahweh ^H3068 has a contention ^H7379 against ^H5973 the inhabitants ^H3427 of the land ^H776,

Because ^H3588 there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 truth ^H571 or [fn]lovingkindness ^H2617

Or knowledge ^H1847 of God ^H430 in the land ^H776.

My people ^H5971 are destroyed ^H1820 for lack ^H369 of knowledge ^H1847.

Because ^H3588 you have rejected ^H3988 knowledge ^H1847,

I also will reject ^H3988 you from ministering ^H3547 as ^H3547 My priest ^H3547.

Since you have forgotten ^H7911 the law ^H8451 of your God ^H430,

I Myself also ^H1571 will forget ^H7911 your children ^H1121.

For I delight ^H2654 in lovingkindness ^H2617 rather ^H3808 than ^H3808 sacrifice ^H2077,

And in the knowledge ^H1847 of God ^H430 rather ^H4480 than ^H4480 burnt ^H5930 offerings ^H5930.
