Then the LORD ^H3068 stretched ^H7971 out ^H7971 His hand ^H3027 and touched ^H5060 my mouth ^H6310, and the LORD ^H3068 said ^H559 to me,

“Behold ^H2009, I have put ^H5414 My words ^H1697 in your mouth ^H6310.

And the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559, “What ^H4100 do you see ^H7200, Jeremiah ^H3414?” And I said ^H559, “I see ^H7200 a branch ^H4731 of an [fn]almond ^H8247 tree ^H8247.”

And the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me a second ^H8145 time ^H8145, saying ^H559, “What ^H4100 do you see ^H7200?” And I said ^H559, “I see ^H7200 a boiling ^H5301 pot ^H5518, facing ^H6440 away from the north ^H6828.”

Hear ^H8085 the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068, house ^H1004 of Jacob ^H3290, and all ^H3605 the families ^H4940 of the house ^H1004 of Israel ^H3478.

“You generation ^H1755, look ^H7200 to the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068.

Have I been ^H1961 a wilderness ^H4057 to Israel ^H3478,

Or ^H518 a land ^H776 of thick ^H3991 darkness ^H3991?

Why ^H4069 do My people ^H5971 say ^H559, ‘We are free to roam ^H7300;

We will no ^H3808 longer ^H5750 come ^H935 to You’?

‘They are ^H8080 fat ^H8080, they are sleek ^H6245,

They also ^H1571 [fn]excel ^H5674 in deeds ^H1697 of wickedness ^H7451;

They do not plead ^H1777 the cause ^H1779,

“Behold ^H2009, you are trusting ^H982 in deceptive ^H8267 words ^H1697 to no ^H1115 avail ^H3276.

“So you shall speak ^H1696 all ^H3605 these ^H428 words ^H1697 to them, but they will not listen ^H8085 to you; and you shall call ^H7121 to them, but they will not answer ^H6030 you.

“You will say ^H559 this ^H2088 word ^H1697 to them,

‘Let my eyes ^H5869 stream ^H3381 down ^H3381 tears ^H1832 night ^H3915 and day ^H3119,

And let them not cease ^H1820;

For the virgin ^H1330 daughter ^H1323 of my people ^H5971 has been crushed ^H7665 with a mighty ^H1419 blow ^H7667,

With a sorely ^H3966 infected ^H2470 wound ^H4347.

“Now it will happen ^H1961 that, when ^H3588 you tell ^H5046 this ^H2088 people ^H5971 all ^H3605 these ^H428 words ^H1697, they will say ^H559 to you, ‘For ^H5921 what ^H4100 reason ^H5921 H4100 has the LORD ^H3068 declared ^H1696 all ^H3605 this ^H2088 great ^H1419 disaster ^H7451 against ^H5921 us? And what ^H4100 is our wrongdoing ^H5771, or what ^H4100 is our sin ^H2403 that we have committed ^H2398 against the LORD ^H3068 our God ^H430?’

Then the word ^H1697 of the LORD ^H3068 came ^H1961 to me, saying ^H559,

Then they said ^H559, “Come ^H1980 and let’s devise ^H2803 plans ^H4284 against ^H5921 Jeremiah ^H3414. Certainly ^H3588 the Law ^H8451 is not going to be lost ^H6 by the priest ^H3548, nor ^H3808 advice ^H6098 by the wise ^H2450, nor ^H3808 the divine word ^H1697 by the prophet ^H5030! Come ^H1980, and let’s strike ^H5221 at him with our tongue ^H3956, and let’s pay ^H7181 no ^H408 attention ^H7181 to any ^H3605 of his words ^H1697.”
