“But require the same quota of bricks from them as they were making before; do not reduce it. For they are slackers ​— ​that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’

“Go get straw yourselves wherever you can find it, but there will be no reduction at all in your workload.’ ”

The Israelite foremen saw that they were in trouble when they were told, “You cannot reduce your daily quota of bricks.”

“If he takes an additional wife, he must not reduce the food, clothing, or marital rights of the first wife.

“But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, the priest will calculate the price for him in proportion to the years left until the next Year of Jubilee, so that your assessment will be reduced.

and said to him, “We are unclean because of a human corpse. Why should we be excluded from presenting the LORD’s offering at its appointed time with the other Israelites? ”

He does not withdraw his gaze from the righteous,

but he seats them forever with enthroned kings,

and they are exalted.

For he makes waterdrops evaporate;[fn]

they distill the rain into its[fn] mist,

I know that everything God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it. God works so that people will be in awe of him.

Dibon went up to its temple

to weep at its high places.
