So they left the crowd and took him along since he was in the boat. And other boats were with him.
Jesus did not let him but told him, “Go home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.”
He said to her, “Let the children be fed first, because it isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
When Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus said, “there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father[fn] or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the gospel,
“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you your wrongdoing.”[fn]
They were looking for a way to arrest him but feared the crowd because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. So they left him and went away.
“Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, leaving a wife behind but no child, that man should take the wife and raise up offspring for his brother.
“There were seven brothers. The first married a woman, and dying, left no offspring.
Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another — all will be thrown down.”
“It is like a man on a journey, who left his house, gave authority to his servants, gave each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to be alert.
Jesus replied, “Leave her alone. Why are you bothering her? She has done a noble thing for me.
Someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, fixed it on a stick, offered him a drink, and said, “Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down.”
So he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and began to serve them.
Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to think to themselves, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone? ”
“But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” — he told the paralyzed man, “I tell you: Get up, take your stretcher, and go home.”
“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the splinter that is in your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the beam of wood in your eye? Hypocrite! First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the splinter in your brother’s eye.
“Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little.”
Those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this man who even forgives sins? ”
After he came to the house, he let no one enter with him except Peter, John, James, and the child’s father and mother.
But he told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and spread the news of the kingdom of God.”
Jesus took up the question and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead.
“Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
“But know this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.
“But he replied to him, ‘Sir,[fn] leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
“See, your house is abandoned to you. I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when[fn] you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord’! ”
“Be on your guard. If your brother sins,[fn] rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.
“And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and comes back to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”
“I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.
“Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”[fn]
Jesus, however, invited them: “Let the little children come to me, and don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
So he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left a house, wife or brothers or sisters, parents or children because of the kingdom of God,
“They will crush you and your children among you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in your midst, because you did not recognize the time when God visited you.”
