“Let Pharaoh do this: Let him appoint overseers over the land and take a fifth of the harvest of the land of Egypt during the seven years of abundance.
“At harvest, you are to give a fifth of it to Pharaoh, and four-fifths will be yours as seed for the field and as food for yourselves, your households, and your dependents.”
“When a man lets a field or vineyard be grazed in, and then allows his animals to go and graze in someone else’s field, he must repay[fn] with the best of his own field or vineyard.
“But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way its yield will increase for you; I am the LORD your God.
“You are to celebrate the LORD’s festival on the fifteenth day of the seventh month for seven days after you have gathered the produce of the land. There will be complete rest on the first day and complete rest on the eighth day.
“All of its growth may serve as food for your livestock and the wild animals in your land.
“It is to be holy to you because it is the Jubilee; you may only eat its produce directly from the field.
“You are to make the purchase from your neighbor based on the number of years since the last Jubilee. He is to sell to you based on the number of remaining harvest years.
“You are to increase its price in proportion to a greater amount of years, and decrease its price in proportion to a lesser amount of years, because what he is selling to you is a number of harvests.
“If you wonder, ‘What will we eat in the seventh year if we don’t sow or gather our produce? ’
“I will appoint my blessing for you in the sixth year, so that it will produce a crop sufficient for three years.
“When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating from the previous harvest. You will be eating this until the ninth year when its harvest comes in.
“I will give you rain at the right time, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.
“Tell them further: Once you have presented the best part of the tenth, and it is credited to you Levites as the produce of the threshing floor or the winepress,
“At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and store it within your city gates.
“You are to hold a seven-day festival for the LORD your God in the place he chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, and you will have abundant joy.
“Do not plant your vineyard with two types of seed; otherwise, the entire harvest, both the crop you plant and the produce of the vineyard, will be defiled.
“I have now brought the first of the land’s produce that you, LORD, have given me.
You will then place the container before the LORD your God and bow down to him.
“When you have finished paying all the tenth of your produce in the third year, the year of the tenth, you are to give it to the Levites, resident aliens, fatherless children, and widows, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
“Your offspring[fn] will be blessed,
and your land’s produce,
and the offspring of your livestock,
including the young of your herds
and the newborn of your flocks.
“The LORD will make you prosper abundantly with offspring,[fn] the offspring of your livestock, and your land’s produce in the land the LORD swore to your ancestors to give you.
“Your offspring will be cursed,
and your land’s produce,
the young of your herds,
and the newborn of your flocks.
“They will eat the offspring of your livestock and your land’s produce until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine, fresh oil, young of your herds, or newborn of your flocks until they cause you to perish.
“The LORD your God will make you prosper abundantly in all the work of your hands, your offspring,[fn] the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land. Indeed, the LORD will again delight in your prosperity, as he delighted in that of your ancestors,
He made him ride on the heights of the land
and eat the produce of the field.
He nourished him with honey from the rock
and oil from flinty rock,
“For fire has been kindled because of my anger
and burns to the depths of Sheol;
it devours the land and its produce,
and scorches the foundations of the mountains.
But the fig tree said to them,
“Should I stop giving
my sweetness and my good fruit,
and rule over trees? ”
When the king asked the woman, she told him the story. So the king appointed a court official for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, along with all the income from the field from the day she left the country until now.”
When the word spread, the Israelites gave liberally of the best of the grain, new wine, fresh oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field, and they brought in an abundance, a tenth of everything.
He made warehouses for the harvest of grain, new wine, and fresh oil, and stalls for all kinds of cattle, and pens for flocks.
Their offspring are healthy and grow up in the open field.
They leave and do not return.[fn]
You soften it with showers and bless its growth,
soaking its furrows and leveling its ridges.
Where there are no oxen, the feeding trough is empty,[fn]
but an abundant harvest comes through the strength of an ox.
The one who loves silver is never satisfied with silver, and whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with income. This too is futile.
I came down to the walnut grove
to see the blossoms of the valley,
to see if the vines were budding
and the pomegranates blooming.
Tell the righteous that it will go well for them,
for they will eat the fruit of their labor.
Woe to Ariel,[fn] Ariel,
the city where David camped!
Continue year after year;
let the festivals recur.
Then he will send rain for your seed that you have sown in the ground, and the food, the produce of the ground, will be rich and plentiful. On that day your cattle will graze in open pastures.
“People will build houses and live in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
“Israel was holy to the LORD,
the firstfruits of his harvest.
All who ate of it found themselves guilty;
disaster came on them.”
This is the LORD’s declaration.
Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: “Look, my anger — my burning wrath — is about to be poured out on this place, on people and animals, on the tree of the field, and on the produce of the land. My wrath will burn and not be quenched.”
