But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will name him John.
Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.[fn]
But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people:[fn]
and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s partners.
“Don’t be afraid,” Jesus told Simon. “From now on you will be catching people.”
He said to them, “Where is your faith? ”

While he was saying this, a cloud appeared and overshadowed them. They became afraid as they entered the cloud.
But they did not understand this statement; it was concealed from them so that they could not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.
“I say to you, my friends, don’t fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.
“But I will show you the one to fear: Fear him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the one to fear!
“Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
“Don’t be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights to give you the kingdom.
“For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect people,
“because I was afraid of you since you’re a harsh man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’
Then the scribes and the chief priests looked for a way to get their hands on him that very hour, because they knew he had told this parable against them, but they feared the people.
The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put him to death, because they were afraid of the people.
