“Give us today our daily bread.[fn]

“If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you ​— ​you of little faith?

“And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today.

As it is said:

Today, if you hear his voice,

do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.

he again specifies a certain day ​— ​today. He specified this speaking through David after such a long time:

Today, if you hear his voice,

do not harden your hearts.

In the same way, Christ did not exalt himself to become a high priest, but God who said to him,

You are my Son;

today I have become your Father,[fn]

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.”
