“It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth — this defiles a person.”
“These are the things that defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile a person.”
Jesus turned and told Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns[fn] but human concerns.”
“For what will it benefit someone if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will anyone give in exchange for his life?
“For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will reward each according to what he has done.
“Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Don’t tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man is raised[fn] from the dead.”

“What do you think? If someone has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, won’t he leave the ninety-nine on the hillside and go and search for the stray?
“For this reason, the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
Some Pharisees approached him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on any grounds? ”
“and he also said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?
“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
His disciples said to him, “If the relationship of a man with his wife is like this, it’s better not to marry.”
“For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, there are eunuchs who were made by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves that way because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept it should accept it.”
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
“See, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death.
“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
“Did John’s baptism come from heaven, or was it of human origin? ”
They discussed it among themselves, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him? ’
“But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ we’re afraid of the crowd, because everyone considers John to be a prophet.”
“What do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘My son, go work in the vineyard today.’
“Listen to another parable: There was a landowner, who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower. He leased it to tenant farmers and went away.
“When the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed for a wedding.
So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that you are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You don’t care what anyone thinks nor do you show partiality.[fn]
“They tie up heavy loads that are hard to carry[fn] and put them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves aren’t willing to lift a finger to move them.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you don’t go in, and you don’t allow those entering to go in.[fn]
“In the same way, on the outside you seem righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
“For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
“They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. This is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be.
“This is why you are also to be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
“For it is just like a man about to go on a journey. He called his own servants and entrusted his possessions to them.
“The man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a harsh man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels[fn] with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.
“You know[fn] that the Passover takes place after two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
“The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for him if he had not been born.”
Then he came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? See, the time is near. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
