“Come and you’ll see,” he replied. So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon.[fn]
“The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Then the Jews said to one another, “Where does he intend to go that we won’t find him? He doesn’t intend to go to the Jewish people dispersed[fn] among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, does he?
When Jesus stood up, he said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? ”
“Even if I testify about myself,” Jesus replied, “my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going.
Then they asked him, “Where is your Father? ”
“You know neither me nor my Father,” Jesus answered. “If you knew me, you would also know my Father.”
The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it so that they could arrest him.
Jesus answered, “The light will be with you only a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that darkness doesn’t overtake you. The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he’s going.
“Lord,” Simon Peter said to him, “where are you going? ”
Jesus answered, “Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.”
“But now I am going away to him who sent me, and not one of you asks me, ‘Where are you going? ’
So she went running to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said to them, “They’ve taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they’ve put him! ”
They said to her, “Woman, why are you crying? ”
“Because they’ve taken away my Lord,” she told them, “and I don’t know where they’ve put him.”
“Woman,” Jesus said to her, “why are you crying? Who is it that you’re seeking? ”
Supposing he was the gardener, she replied, “Sir, if you’ve carried him away, tell me where you’ve put him, and I will take him away.”
Then, fearing we might run aground on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern and prayed for daylight to come.
Where is the one who is wise? Where is the teacher of the law?[fn] Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?
If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
Where, then, is your blessing? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me.
By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going.
And if a righteous person is saved with difficulty,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?
saying, “Where is his ‘coming’ that he promised? Ever since our ancestors fell asleep, all things continue as they have been since the beginning of creation.”
But the one who hates his brother or sister is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and doesn’t know where he’s going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
