Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel? ”
“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s guardian? ”
He said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going? ”
She replied, “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai.”
They called out to Lot and said, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Send them out to us so we can have sex with them! ”
Then Isaac spoke to his father Abraham and said, “My father.”
And he replied, “Here I am, my son.”
Isaac said, “The fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering? ”

then be afraid of the sword,
because wrath brings punishment by the sword,
so that you may know there is a judgment.
he will vanish forever like his own dung.
Those who know[fn] him will ask, “Where is he? ”
For you say, “Where now is the nobleman’s house? ”
and “Where are the tents the wicked lived in? ”
My tears have been my food day and night,
while all day long people say to me,
“Where is your God? ”
My adversaries taunt me,
as if crushing my bones,
while all day long they say to me,
“Where is your God? ”
Why should the nations ask,
“Where is their God? ”
Before our eyes,
let vengeance for the shed blood of your servants
be known among the nations.
Lord, where are the former acts of your faithful love
that you swore to David in your faithfulness?
