“But I tell you, everyone who divorces his wife, except in a case of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

“For from the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false testimonies, slander.

“I tell you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another commits adultery.”[fn]

“For from within, out of people’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders,

“You’re doing what your father does.”

“We weren’t born of sexual immorality,” they said. “We have one Father ​— ​God.”

“but instead we should write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from eating anything that has been strangled, and from blood.
