The king, with the queen seated beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you return? ” So I gave him a definite time, and it pleased the king to send me.

my King, in the sanctuary.

The LORD also says:

Jonah got up and went to Nineveh according to the LORD’s command.

Jonah set out on the first day of his walk in the city and proclaimed, “In forty days Nineveh will be demolished! ”
But he will completely destroy Nineveh[fn]
with an overwhelming flood,
and he will chase his enemies into darkness.
He gives orders to his officers;
they stumble as they advance.
They race to its wall;
the protective shield is set in place.
I see the tents of Cushan[fn] in distress;
the tent curtains of the land of Midian tremble.
