After they had completed their relief mission, Barnabas and Saul returned to[fn] Jerusalem, taking along John who was called Mark.
“Now as John was completing his mission, he said, ‘Who do you think I am? I am not the one. But one is coming after me, and I am not worthy to untie the sandals on his feet.’
“Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him.
From there they sailed back to Antioch where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work they had now completed.
After these events, Paul resolved by the Spirit[fn] to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem. “After I’ve been there,” he said, “It is necessary for me to see Rome as well.”
After two years had passed, Porcius Festus succeeded Felix, and because Felix wanted to do the Jews a favor, he left Paul in prison.
They are filled with all unrighteousness,[fn] evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,
in order that the law’s requirement would be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend.
Though I have many things to write to you, I don’t want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come to you and talk face to face so that our joy may be complete.
