The high priest Ananias ordered those who were standing next to him to strike him on the mouth.

When these men entered Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him.

I am using a human analogy because of the weakness of your flesh.[fn] For just as you offered the parts of yourselves as slaves to impurity, and to greater and greater lawlessness, so now offer them as slaves to righteousness, which results in sanctification.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.[fn]
But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.[fn]
So you should welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints and assist her in whatever matter she may require your help. For indeed she has been a benefactor of many — and of me also.
Food will not bring us close to God.[fn] We are not worse off if we don’t eat, and we are not better if we do eat.
For we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you.
For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, because I have promised you in marriage to one husband — to present a pure virgin to Christ.
He did this to present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless.

Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.
