“For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter[fn] or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all things are accomplished.

When he had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes,[fn] two demon-possessed men met him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

When evening came, the disciples approached him and said, “This place is deserted, and it is already late.[fn] Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”

“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.

Going a little farther,[fn] he fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Again, a second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this[fn] cannot pass[fn] unless I drink it, your will be done.”

He saw them straining at the oars,[fn] because the wind was against them. Very early in the morning[fn] he came toward them walking on the sea and wanted to pass by them.

“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place.

He went a little farther, fell to the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

“But woe to you Pharisees! You give a tenth[fn] of mint, rue, and every kind of herb, and you bypass[fn] justice and love for God.[fn] These things you should have done without neglecting the others.

“Blessed will be those servants the master finds alert when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will get ready,[fn] have them recline at the table, then come and serve them.

“But he replied to his father, ‘Look, I have been slaving many years for you, and I have never disobeyed your orders, yet you never gave me a goat so that I could celebrate with my friends.

“But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter in the law to drop out.

“Which one of you having a servant tending sheep or plowing will say to him when he comes in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?

“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by,” they told him.

“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all things take place.

Passing by Mysia they went down to Troas.

By now much time had passed, and the voyage was already dangerous. Since the Day of Atonement[fn] was already over, Paul gave his advice

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has[fn] come!

but let the rich boast in his humiliation because he will pass away like a flower of the field.

For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief;[fn] on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.[fn][fn]
