Large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
When he saw the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and after he sat down, his disciples came to him.
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,
When Jesus saw a large crowd[fn] around him, he gave the order to go to the other side of the sea.
When Jesus came to the leader’s house, he saw the flute players and a crowd lamenting loudly.
After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up.
When the demon had been driven out, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowds were amazed, saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel! ”
When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd.
As these men were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the wind?

When Jesus heard about it, he withdrew from there by boat to a remote place to be alone. When the crowds heard this, they followed him on foot from the towns.
When he went ashore,[fn] he saw a large crowd, had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
When evening came, the disciples approached him and said, “This place is deserted, and it is already late.[fn] Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”
Then he commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them. He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.

After dismissing the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. Well into the night, he was there alone.
and large crowds came to him, including the lame, the blind, the crippled, those unable to speak, and many others. They put them at his feet, and he healed them.
So the crowd was amazed when they saw those unable to speak talking, the crippled restored, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they gave glory to the God of Israel.
Jesus called his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the crowd, because they’ve already stayed with me three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, otherwise they might collapse on the way.”
The disciples said to him, “Where could we get enough bread in this desolate place to feed such a crowd? ”
he took the seven loaves and the fish, gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
After dismissing the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan.[fn]
The crowd demanded that they keep quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David! ”
A very large crowd spread their clothes on the road; others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them on the road.
Then the crowds who went ahead of him and those who followed shouted:
Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name
of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!
“But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ we’re afraid of the crowd, because everyone considers John to be a prophet.”
Although they were looking for a way to arrest him, they feared the crowds, because the people regarded him as a prophet.
While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. A large mob with swords and clubs was with him from the chief priests and elders of the people.
At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal,[fn] to capture me? Every day I used to sit, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me.

Since they were not able to bring him to[fn] Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and after digging through it, they lowered the mat on which the paralytic was lying.
