He proclaimed, “One who is more powerful than I am is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the strap of his sandals.
They were astonished at his teaching because he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not like the scribes.
and he healed many who were sick with various diseases and drove out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
When Jesus heard this, he told them, “It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who are sick. I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees[fn] were fasting. People came and asked him, “Why do John’s disciples and the Pharisees’ disciples fast, but your disciples do not fast? ”
Jesus said to them, “The wedding guests cannot fast while the groom is with them, can they? As long as they have the groom with them, they cannot fast.
The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath? ”

He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher! Don’t you care that we’re going to die? ”
Jesus did not let him but told him, “Go home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.”
He went in and said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.”
“Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us? ” So they were offended by him.
Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his household.”
He was not able to do a miracle there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.
Although the king was deeply distressed, because of his oaths and the guests[fn] he did not want to refuse her.

(For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, keeping the tradition of the elders.

He said to them, “Are you also as lacking in understanding? Don’t you realize that nothing going into a person from the outside can defile him?
“For it doesn’t go into his heart but into the stomach and is eliminated” (thus he declared all foods clean).
He got up and departed from there to the region of Tyre.[fn] He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it, but he could not escape notice.
He said to her, “Let the children be fed first, because it isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
“I have compassion on the crowd, because they’ve already stayed with me three days and have nothing to eat.
The disciples had forgotten to take bread and had only one loaf with them in the boat.
Aware of this, he said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact you have no bread? Don’t you understand or comprehend? Do you have hardened hearts?
“Do you have eyes and not see; do you have ears and not hear? And do you not remember?
But turning around and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! You are not thinking about God’s concerns[fn] but human concerns.”
Then he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God come in power.”
and his clothes became dazzling — extremely white as no launderer on earth could whiten them.
