TDNT Reference: 5:382,716
Trench's Synonyms: xxxvii. θυμός, ὀργή, παροργισμός.
Strong's Number G3709 matches the Greek ὀργή (orgē),
which occurs 36 times in 34 verses
in the MGNT Greek.
So he began saying to the crowds who were coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of [fn]vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath [of God that is] to come?
For [God does not overlook sin and] the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness suppress and stifle the truth,
But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? God is not wrong to inflict His wrath [on us], is He? (I am speaking in purely human terms.)
Let no one deceive you with empty arguments [that encourage you to sin], for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience [those who habitually sin].
Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger and disputing or quarreling or doubt [in their mind].
SO I SWORE [an oath] IN MY WRATH,
‘THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST [the promised land].’”
“AS I SWORE [an oath] IN MY WRATH,
THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST,”
[this He said] although His works were [fn]completed from the foundation of the world [waiting for all who would believe].
Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving];
