telling him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”[fn]

and yet not perceive;

otherwise, they might turn back

The men who tended them ran off and reported it in the town and the countryside, and people went to see what had happened.
Those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and told about the pigs.
One of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet
He asked them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.”

But turning around and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! You are not thinking about God’s concerns[fn] but human concerns.”
Then he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God come in power.”
So they brought the boy to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into convulsions. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
When Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you: Come out of him and never enter him again.”
When Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Seeing in the distance a fig tree with leaves, he went to find out if there was anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs.
But knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius[fn] to look at.”
When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one dared to question him any longer.
“When you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be” (let the reader understand), “then those in Judea must flee to the mountains.
When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with Jesus, the man from Nazareth.”
When the maidservant saw him again, she began to tell those standing nearby, “This man is one of them.”
“Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with him taunted him.
Someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, fixed it on a stick, offered him a drink, and said, “Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down.”
