Then the news about him spread throughout Syria. So they brought to him all those who were afflicted, those suffering from various diseases and intense pains, the demon-possessed, the epileptics, and the paralytics. And he healed them.
“If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
“And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.
“But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness!
When the men of that place recognized him, they alerted the whole vicinity and brought to him all who were sick.
“For what will it benefit someone if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will anyone give in exchange for his life?
He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
“This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world[fn] as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false testimony against Jesus so that they could put him to death,
Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence and gathered the whole company[fn] around him.
They hurried throughout that region and began to carry the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.

As soon as it was morning, having held a meeting with the elders, scribes, and the whole Sanhedrin, the chief priests tied Jesus up, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.
The soldiers led him away into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) and called the whole company together.
Fear came on all those who lived around them, and all these things were being talked about throughout the hill country of Judea.
Then Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread throughout the entire vicinity.

“Go back to your home, and tell all that God has done for you.” And off he went, proclaiming throughout the town how much Jesus had done for him.
A woman suffering from bleeding for twelve years, who had spent all she had on doctors[fn] and yet could not be healed by any,
“For what does it benefit someone if he gains the whole world, and yet loses or forfeits himself?
He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and “your neighbor as yourself.”

The father realized this was the very hour at which Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” So he himself believed, along with his whole household.
“If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses won’t be broken, are you angry at me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath?
