“And no one puts[fn] new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”

they gave him wine[fn] mixed with gall to drink. But when he tasted it, he refused to drink it.

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost as well as the skins. No, new wine is put into fresh wineskins.”

They tried to give him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.

Don’t continue drinking only water, but use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not slaves to excessive drinking. They are to teach what is good,

and the merchants of the earth

have grown wealthy from her sensuality and excess.

cinnamon, spice,[fn] incense, myrrh,[fn] and frankincense; wine, olive oil, fine flour, and grain; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and slaves ​— ​human lives.

A sharp[fn] sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule[fn] them with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty.
