“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble.
He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was not able because of the crowd, since he was a short man.
Then Jesus said, “I am only with you for a short time. Then I’m going to the one who sent me.
Jesus answered, “The light will be with you only a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that darkness doesn’t overtake you. The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he’s going.
They all paid attention to him, from the least of them to the greatest, and they said, “This man is called the Great Power of God.”[fn]
“To this very day, I have had help from God, and I stand and testify to both small and great, saying nothing other than what the prophets and Moses said would take place —
Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven[fn] leavens the whole batch of dough?
And each person will not teach his fellow citizen,[fn]

because they will all know me,
from the least to the greatest of them.
So too, though the tongue is a small part of the body, it boasts great things. Consider how a small fire sets ablaze a large forest.
“I know your works. Look, I have placed before you an open door that no one can close because you have but little power; yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
So they were each given a white robe, and they were told to rest a little while longer until the number would be completed of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters, who were going to be killed just as they had been.
The nations were angry,
but your wrath has come.
The time has come
for the dead to be judged
and to give the reward
to your servants the prophets,
to the saints, and to those who fear your name,
both small and great,
and the time has come to destroy
those who destroy the earth.
And it makes everyone — small and great, rich and poor, free and slave — to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,
A voice came from the throne, saying,
Praise our God,
all his servants, and the ones who fear him,
both small and great!
“so that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of military commanders, the flesh of the mighty, the flesh of horses and of their riders, and the flesh of everyone, both free and slave, small and great.”
He threw him into the abyss, closed it, and put a seal on it so that he would no longer deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed. After that, he must be released for a short time.
